It’s almost that time of year and what better way to celebrate than watching horror on film!

So join me now for a little bit of 8mm terror as I countdown the days to All Hallows’ Eve!

Tonight’s Presentation!

Super 8 / 200′ BW silent edition.

This is one of those films I  remember seeing for the very first time on late night TV – had to stay up as there was no VHS yet to record!
This film has it all, creative low budget effects, stop motion monsters and a creepy vibe. Finally showed up on VHS in the 80’s on the Wizard video label but retitled “The Beast”. it is now available on a superb DVD edition from Criterion.

Needless to say this was a must have digest….neat box art that promises one of the great monsters- BUT the digest never shows it! I mean, we do get the flying demon and the caveman sequence which uses some cool forced perspective. The story is also kept pretty coherent in this 7 minute short. But I’ve always felt it could have been so much better.

B- If you’re going to put a monster on the box art you better damn well show it!
